The Laboratory of Catalysis and Synthesis in Organic Chemistry at the University of Tlemcen under the direction of Professor Noureddine CHOUKCHOU-BRAHAM organized the first summer school on heterocycles from 16 to 21 September 2017. This school provided to fifty participants 16 courses of 1h30 and 4 workshops of 3h00 high level on heterocyclic chemistry (timetable).
The aim of this school was to show the impact of heterocyclic chemistry in the academic and industrial fields. In addition to a formative aspect, the school was also conducive to establishing new links with other universities for development of this specialty in Algeria.
The chemistry of heterocycles represents indeed an important potential in Algeria with a considerable number of chemists who activate in this specialty. For this reason, a poster session was organized to allow PhD students and researchers to share their recent work with trainers. A prize was awarded to the best poster.
